Know Before You Go

As you prepare to travel to Atlanta, it’s time to start thinking about how you can take advantage of all that the annual meeting has to offer. Here are some tips to help you enhance your experience.

Avoid Delays and Keep Everyone Safe!

To ensure the safety of all attendees, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for registrants attending the 2021 ASH Annual Meeting in person in Atlanta, Georgia. New this year: All attendees must register in advance online; there will be no in-person registration counters. It is also required that you upload proof of vaccination prior to arriving at the convention center in order to get your green health pass, which will allow you to access the meeting. Learn more and get verified.

When you arrive at the convention center for the first time, you must show your green health pass and ID at vaccination verification checkpoints prior to picking up your badge at the general registration desk. You will not be permitted to access the meeting, or events associated with the annual meeting, until you have gone through vaccination verification and badge pick-up. Please check the registration hours and plan accordingly.

Get Tested for COVID-19 as Often as Needed

Unlimited, complimentary COVID-19 testing will be available for those who experience symptoms on site and for travelers who must show proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test to board their return flight. There will be multiple testing sites within the convention center, as well as at nearby hotels, so that attendees who are symptomatic do not need to return to the convention center to get tested. Annual meeting attendees are welcome to test as often as they like. Walk-ins are welcome, or attendees can register for an appointment window.

Plan to Attend These Events that Are Exclusively Available to On-Site Attendees!

“Welcome Back” Reception

Come celebrate the return to an in-person meeting! After nearly two years of not being able to meet in person, ASH is thrilled to be back together. Plan to attend this reunion-style reception for all participants on Friday, December 10, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Eastern time in ASH Central, located in Hall BC. Come say “hey” to your old friends and mix and mingle to meet new colleagues at this special networking opportunity after picking up your meeting badge.

Lunch in the Exhibit Hall

ASH will provide lunch on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the Exhibit Hall, which will feature “grab and go” style sandwiches or salads. Designated seating areas are available in the Exhibit Hall and ASH has secured more-than-ample outdoor seating spaces around the Georgia World Congress Center for attendees who might want to take a mask break while eating in the open air.

“How I Treat” and “Meet the Scientist” Sessions

The “How I Treat” and “Meet the Scientist” sessions are designed for a small audience for maximum engagement between key opinion leaders and participants. To attend, you must purchase a ticket at registration after picking up your badge. A portion of the available tickets are held aside for trainees at a discounted price. Tickets will also be sold at the door, but seating is limited so advance purchase at the registration desk is strongly encouraged.

Collaboration Rooms

Small conference rooms for 10-20 people are available for attendees to meet in a more private space to better facilitate networking and collaboration. These are available for 45-minute periods that begin at the top of every hour and may be reserved in advance online or through the mobile app. You may also inquire about walk-in availability at the Collaboration Room help desk in ASH Central.

Take Some Time for Self-Care and Wellness

With all the educational and professional sessions and events at the annual meeting, make sure you take some time for self-care and visit the ASH Wellness Studio. Between sessions and throughout the day, ASH will feature informal micro-learning on various aspects of resiliency and wellness in the ASH Wellness Studio, where there will be short presentations and stand-up audience participation. This year’s focus will be on supporting your body, mind, heart, and spark. Yoga will be available on Saturday and Monday mornings, too!

Sleep and rest are important to wellness as well. In between sessions you can take a short rest because Power Nap @ASH is back!

Stay current on industry trends

Be sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall to engage with a variety of industry partners and learn more about their offerings. Between sessions, stop by the Exhibit Hall and Product Theaters to learn more about the latest products and drug therapies in the areas of hematology and blood transfusion.

The Virtual Platform is Available for All Who Register!

The 63rd ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition is intended to be experienced as a truly hybrid event. It’s up to you to decide whether you’d like to attend sessions in person or from the comfort of your hotel or home, and you now have the added flexibility to watch sessions on demand that may have taken place while you were participating in another activity (or even on the trip home!).

It is strongly encouraged that in-person attendees explore the virtual platform to get the most out of your annual meeting experience. At this year’s meeting, for example, if your feet hurt and you have met your daily step goal, you can watch sessions in ASH Central where there will be plenty of seating. Simply grab your laptop and some headphones to enjoy sessions from wherever you’re most comfortable.

Quickly access the meeting platform

All registered attendees for the ASH annual meeting will have access to the annual meeting virtual platform when it opens on Wednesday, December 8, at 9 a.m. Eastern time for Preview Days (December 8-10).
