2016 ASH Annual Meeting Update
The 58th ASH Annual Meeting in San Diego will soon be upon us, and the Trainee Council would like to help you maximize your experience. In addition to the Scientific Program, ASH has created some special sessions with trainees specifically in mind. Whether related to education, career development, or networking skills, these activities are an invaluable resource in guiding both MD and PhD trainees in their careers.
To make the most of your experience, we would encourage you to visit the 2016 ASH Annual Meeting trainee activities and services webpage for detailed information including dates, times, and topics of trainee-related activities. Highlights include Trainee Day on Friday, December 2, with seminars on research collaboration and grant writing, followed by the Trainee Welcome Reception that evening. Career development lunches on Saturday will provide the opportunity to interact in small groups with leaders in the field of hematology. Make sure to arrive early to these popular sessions! Trainee simultaneous didactic sessions on Sunday and Monday will cover multiple educational, research, and career topics just for trainees. We also encourage you to join us Sunday morning for the ASH Foundation Run/Walk to raise money in support of the ASH Sickle Cell Disease Initiative. Finally, don’t forget to visit the Trainee Lounge located in ASH Central.
To help you navigate the maze of scientific sessions, we highly recommend downloading the 2016 ASH Annual Meeting app to your smartphone. The app includes the complete program including abstracts, and provides the ability to take notes. You can keep activity times and locations at your fingertips and add them to your calendar directly from the app.
We look forward to celebrating another year forward in scientific achievement in the field of hematology and to meeting the trainees—our future leaders in the field. Please find your fellow Trainee Council members during the meeting if you need any assistance.
