Trainee Day, Reimagined

Be the first to experience ASH-a-Palooza, a new take on Trainee Day, taking place Friday, November 30, 2018, just prior to the 60th ASH annual meeting in San Diego.

Designed to reflect a fun, festival-like setting, ASH-a-Palooza will focus on microlearning in an open environment. Trainees will explore different aspects of hematology in an innovative and interactive blend of learning and meaningful connection. The choice to use Petco Park — home of the San Diego Padres — offers an exciting and unique outdoor venue. The gates will open at 12:00 noon, and the programming will start at 1:00 p.m. In keeping with the baseball-themed setting, the menu will feature classic ballpark-style fare.

This is a trainee-only event. You must have your blue badge to enter the gates as all badges will be scanned. There is no registration required, but attendance will be limited and on first-come, first-served basis.

The afternoon will feature several unique learning formats, including:

  • ASH Talks: 20-minute “TED talk”–style presentations from atop the visitors’ dugout
  • Blood Drops: five-minute rapid-fire presentations
  • Blood Buddies: “speed mentoring” sessions.

There will also be plenty of “take 10/15” breaks for trainees to connect with speakers and trainees as well as enjoy the refreshments and beautiful San Diego weather. Trainees can also visit information booths to learn about ASH’s many resources, initiatives, awards, and opportunities to get involved with the society.

As a trainee, there is no better way to kick off your annual meeting experience than at ASH-a-Palooza. Plan to arrive in San Diego a day early to experience this unprecedented and exciting event the Friday before the official start of the ASH annual meeting! Learn more about ASH-a-Palooza and other special trainee activities and services on the ASH website.
