Management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) During Pregnancy
ASH has initiated an effort to develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for pregnancy in people with sickle cell disease that meet the highest standards of development, rigor and trustworthiness. Development of these guidelines, including systematic evidence review, will be supported by a methodology team. With their partnership, ASH will work to convene an initial panel of experts to determine the scope of the guideline, review evidence and formulate recommendations addressing pregnancy in people with sickle cell anemia.
By January 16th, 2026, ASH invites nominations, including self-nominations, for individuals to serve on the Management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) During Pregnancy. The panel will include a diverse group of experts, including adult hematologists with expertise in SCD, pregnancy, and pre- and postnatal care; obstetrics and gynecology specialists; cardiopulmonary specialists; pharmacists; community-based physicians; implementation science expert; and patient representatives.
