Join Your Hematology Colleagues to Take Action in Support of NIH Funding
The Society needs your help to urge Congress to support NIH research and to show elected officials the impact that federal funding has on hematology.

Support the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed considerable strain on America’s healthcare workforce and ASH joins many others in the physician community in supporting the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act (H.R. 2255/S. 1024) which seeks to address this growing problem. The bipartisan legislation would allow the government to recapture 15,000 unused employment-based physician immigrant visas, bolster the U.S. healthcare workforce, and bring relief to current frontline providers.

Urge Your Senators and Representative to Support the Cancer Drug Parity Act of 2021
Legislation has been reintroduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate that would ensure that patients enrolled in certain federally regulated health plans have access and insurance coverage for all anti-cancer regimens.

Contact Your Senators and Representatives to Support COVID-19 Relief Research Funding
The vast majority of research labs across the country were forced to suspend their research or pivot to COVID-19 related work due to the public health emergency. To help remedy this, bipartisan legislation has been reintroduced to authorize funding to U.S. researchers who have been impacted by the pandemic.

Support the Improving Access to Transfusion Care for Hospice Patients Act
The Improving Access to Transfusion Care for Hospice Patients Act of 2021 (S. 2566) has been introduced in the U.S. Senate. Urge your legislators to cosponsor the bill and help ensure access to palliative blood transfusions for patients receiving end-of-life care.

Contact Your Elected Officials to Protect the Right to Maternal Health Care
The recent Supreme Court decision along with trigger laws and legislation in nearly half the nation’s 50 states, threatens the doctor-patient relationship and may impede the ability of health care professionals, including hematologists, to provide medical care and counsel to their patients according to their training and ethical obligations.
