Committee Mandate

The Committee on Training serves as the oversight body for the Clinical Research Training Institute (CRTI).The Committee on Training recommends appointment of an ASH member to serve as the CRTI Director for a three-year term. The CRTI Director is responsible for providing oversight and ensuring quality across all of the CRTI programs.

The Committee on Training recommends six members for appointment to the CRTI Steering Subcommittee – a subcommittee of the Committee on Training – to be chaired by the CRTI Director. The CRTI Steering Subcommittee is comprised of individuals representing each of the following specific domains: evaluation, curriculum, mentorship, diversity, and methodology, along with a former CRTI trainee.

Members of the CRTI Steering Subcommittee serve three-years, staggered terms with two members rotating off the subcommittee each year, ensuring continuity with the appointment of two new members to the steering subcommittee each year.Terms on the CRTI Steering Subcommittee would run on an academic calendar year (July 1-June 30).

The Co-Directors of CRTI-North America and CRTI-Latin America (Regular and Advanced) also serve as ex officio, non-voting members of the subcommittee with terms congruent to their terms as co-directors.

Members of the Clinical Research Training Institute Oversight Subcommittee are required to participate in conference calls throughout the year, attend a meeting during the ASH annual meeting, and attend a meeting to be held either in conjunction with the CRTI Study Section in the spring or the CRTI workshop in August.
