ASH Foundation Gifts in Action
Every gift to the ASH Foundation is a vital philanthropic investment in ASH’s mission of helping hematologists conquer blood diseases worldwide. Donations of all amounts help sustain the future of hematology as a vibrant, flourishing career path in both academia and clinical practice. The ultimate beneficiaries of gifts to the ASH Foundation are patients battling blood diseases.
The ASH Foundation has disbursed over $5.5 Million in support of research, career development, and quality care and education programs.
Your Philanthropic Investments in Action
Research
The ASH Foundation has partially or fully funded over 40 ASH Research Awards to further research that would not have been awarded without support from our donors. This support include both partial and full support of awards.
In 2024, the ASH Foundation funded the following ASH Research Awards:
- Two full and one partial ASH Scholar Award
- One ASH Research Training Award for Fellows
- One partial Global Research Award
Global Programs
The Foundation supports ASH’s numerous programs designed specifically for international hematologists. The ASH Foundation has funded 19 Visitor Training Program Awards and supported Consortium on Newborn Screening in Africa (CONSA) laboratory training in 2021, 2023 and 2024. In 2024, the ASH Foundation provided assistance for a pilot study on the detection of Detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) by flow cytometry.
Sickle Cell Disease Initiative
The ASH Foundation provides funding for the ASH Sickle Cell Disease Initiative to include workshops, educational resources, and the Bringing Sickle Cell Disease to Life Podcast Series. In 2024, the ASH Foundation funded an Environmental Scan of Opportunities for ASH to Improve Quality of Care in Sickle Cell Disease.
Training and Career Development
The ASH Foundation has disbursed over $300,000 in funding to support training and career development programs and awards.
In 2024, the ASH Foundation funded the piloting of the Clinical Research Training Institute Mediterranean, Middle East, and North Africa and a PhD workforce study aimed at understanding the needs of basic science pre- and post-doc researchers.
Hematology Inclusion Pathway
The ASH Foundation has partially or fully funded over 20 ASH Hematology Inclusion Pathway Awards. In 2024, the ASH Foundation funded an additional HIP Resident Award and an additional partial HIP Fellow Award.
