Consult a Colleague
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
ASH initiated the Consult a Colleague program in 2007. For nearly two decades, this popular program overseen by the ASH Committee on Quality has connected thousands of clinicians with expert hematologists who have provided information and guidance about difficult clinical cases.
The available options to support clinical decision making have substantially expanded since the Consult a Colleague program was initiated. Clinicians today can reference digital textbooks and guidelines, including ASH guidelines, by using powerful and intuitive natural language search. Clinicians also have a greater ability to connect with peers through social media networks or with experts through institutional or commercial consultation services.
Simultaneously, ASH has tracked a substantial decline in the use of the Consult a Colleague service, since 2020. Data and surveys of ASH members show that the audience for this program has narrowed.
As a result, the ASH Committee on Quality has decided that beginning August 15, 2025, ASH will sunset the Consult a Colleague program. ASH will instead direct resources for quality programs that data show are most highly valued by ASH members, including ASH clinical practice guidelines, guideline-derived tools and resources, quality improvement training and education, and networking opportunities such as in person meetings and an online community platform.
Thank you for your understanding and support of this program. Please contact quality@hematology.org with any questions.
