2023 President: Robert A. Brodsky, MD

Robert A. Brodsky, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Division of Hematology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he is also the director of the T32 Training Program in Hematology. He earned his medical degree from Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Dr. Brodsky earned two fellowships, one in hematology at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and another in oncology at John Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Prior to his election, Dr. Brodsky chaired the ASH Scientific Committee on Bone Marrow Failure and served on the Program Committee beginning in 2014, including co-chairing the 2016 Scientific Program. He recently served on the editorial board for ASH’s flagship journal Blood and completed a term as ASH Secretary in 2020.

Dr. Brodsky’s research interests include bone marrow failure states, bone marrow transplantation for non-malignant diseases, complement and complement-related disorders, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.
