Committee Mandate
The Subcommittee on Implementation and Systems-Based Hematology (SISBH), a subcommittee of the Committee on Quality, oversees ASH activities that identify and advance policies, procedures, or operations that may be implemented by healthcare systems to improve the quality of care delivered to patients with hematologic conditions. The subcommittee is specifically tasked to discover system-level opportunities for quality improvement, design evidence-based ASH resources to address such opportunities, and oversee resource development and dissemination. Example resources may include system-level evidence-based recommendations, algorithms, or toolkits. Intended audiences may include health system administrators, technology vendors (e.g., electronic health record vendors), and individual hematologists who work in a healthcare system.
The chair and vice chair of the Subcommittee on Implementation and Systems-Based Hematology serve a one-year renewable term. Members serve staggered two-year renewable terms. Members of the subcommittee are required to participate in email discussions, regularly scheduled conference calls, and to meet in person as deemed necessary. Individual projects are overseen by workgroups comprised of a subset of members of the subcommittee (who volunteer based on interest and expertise).
The structure of the Subcommittee on Implementation and Systems-Based Hematology includes the chair of the Committee on Quality as a liaison member. If not already a member of the Committee on Quality, the chair of the subcommittee serves as a liaison member of the Committee on Quality for a term congruent with service on the subcommittee.
