ASH Letter to CDC Director Dr Erica Schwartz

In its September 1, 2026, letter to CDC Director Erica Schwartz, the American Society of Hematology (ASH) urges restoration of the Division of Blood Disorders and Public Health Genomics and its staff, warning that disruptions are undermining sickle cell disease surveillance, state coordination, and programs supporting people with blood disorders. ASH also calls for a strong, expert-led Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and transparent, evidence-based vaccine recommendations to protect medically vulnerable patients and preserve vaccine access and public trust.
