Donald Trump released a fiscal year 2020 budget request that proposes a 12 percent
cut to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This includes a $4.716
billion (12.1%) cut to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation’s
largest funder of biomedical research, and a $750 million cut in funding to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
