Committee Mandate

The Guideline Oversight Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the Committee on Quality, oversees the development of ASH clinical practice guidelines.  The Subcommittee determines policies and procedures, recommends new topics for guideline development, vets and recommends individuals for appointment to guideline panels, and reviews and recommends collaborations with other organizations.

Members of the Guideline Oversight Subcommittee are appointed to 3-year staggered terms.  They include individuals with experience on guidelines panels, clinical expertise in diverse hematologic diseases, and/or expertise in guideline development methods.

The Chair and Vice Chair of the Guideline Oversight Subcommittee serve a 1-year renewable term.  If not already a member of the Committee on Quality, the chair of the subcommittee serves as a liaison to the Committee on Quality.

The Guideline Oversight Subcommittee structure includes the Chair of the Committee on Quality as well as the Blood Advances Editor-in-Chief as ex officio, non-voting members.

Members of the Guideline Oversight Subcommittee are required to attend two meetings per year (one in the spring or summer and another in the fall) at ASH Headquarters.  Members also participate in conference calls (approximately monthly) and respond to specific requests by email as needed.
