Each year the Society offers Travel Awards to select individuals in conjunction with its annual meeting. The Travel Award program recognizes individuals who are both first author and presenter of their abstracts in four categories: medical students, graduate students, resident physicians, and post-doctoral fellows. Each award, in the amount of $500, is intended to assist individuals who are beginning careers in medicine or medical science by helping to offset costs associated with traveling to the ASH annual meeting. Without the financial assistance provided by these awards, many of these individuals would not be able to attend the meeting and present their work. Support of these awards is greatly appreciated, well publicized, and instrumental in advancing the field of hematologic research.
