Attention Clinical Researchers — The CRTI Application deadline is March 31
Applications are now being accepted for the ASH Clinical Research Training Institute (CRTI). The goal of ASH's Clinical Research Training Institute is to prepare hematologists for careers in patient-oriented clinical research. Now in its fourth year, the CRTI provides 20 fellows and junior faculty members with a full year of personalized education and mentoring to help them build careers in clinical hematology research.
Beginning in August with a weeklong summer workshop in Dana Point, CA, the CRTI offers instruction on the foundation, methodologies, and applications of clinical research.
With a one-to-one faculty-trainee ratio, emphasis is on helping each trainee develop and refine his or her own research proposal. The small group size provides opportunities for intensive mentoring as well.
The deadline for application is March 31. See the Education and Careers section of the ASH Web site (www.hematology.org/education/training/crti.cfm) for more information.
TRAINEE RESEARCH AWARD
What's in a name? The Trainee Research Award (formerly the Medical Student Award) has been renamed to better indicate its purpose. This award, given to medical students, residents, and a limited number of undergraduates each year, provides $4,000 to support a trainee's research over a three-month period. Additionally, it provides $1,000 for that trainee to travel to the ASH annual meeting. The deadline for application is March 15. More information can be found on the ASH Web site at www.hematology.org/education/awards/trainee.cfm.
