NIH Postpones RO1 Electronic Grant Application Submission

February 7, 2006 – The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced that it will delay the transition to electronic submission of grant applications and the use of a new set of application forms that allow multiple principal investigators. The shift to electronic submission of grant applications for the NIH traditional research grant (R01) mechanism and the use of SF424 research and related (R&R) applications that allow multiple principal investigators, originally slated for October 1, 2006, will take place February 1, 2007; all subsequent mechanisms will also face the four-month delay. Before the R01 transition, NIH will most likely pilot the use of R&R applications on select requests for applications marked for submission in October 2006.

For more information on the status of the shift to electronic submission and the new application form, visit the NIH electronic submission of grant applications Web site.
