NIH Conflict of Interest Filing Deadline Delayed
June 28, 2005—Implementation of the Prohibited Outside Activities financial disclosure regulation required of all National Institutes of Health employees has been delayed until at least October 3, 2005. The additional disclosure requirements were issued on February 3, 2005, setting the deadline for employee disclosure filing on July 5, 2005. However, due to comments and concerns regarding the new regulations, the deadline for filing has been extended to allow time for all suggested revisions to be fairly considered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and NIH. If implemented, all NIH employees would be required to report in writing any prohibited financial interests by the new October 3, 2005 deadline. The divestiture deadline is extended to January 2, 2006.
