Meeting Rules and Regulations

No Photography
Cameras may not be used in any poster session or session room except by registered members of the media. This includes digital, film, and cell-phone cameras. Photography is strictly prohibited and violators will be promptly escorted and barred from the room if found attempting to take photographs. No one is allowed to take photographs in the exhibit hall except the official ASH photographer. Repeat offenders will have their meeting badges revoked and not be allowed to continue attending the meeting.

Photography Disclaimer
ASH will have official photographers present at the ASH annual meeting; therefore, please note that any photographs taken at the meeting may be used in future ASH publications, on the ASH Web site, or in other Society materials.

No Videotaping
Videotaping in any poster session or session room, or in the exhibit hall, is strictly prohibited. Violators will be escorted and barred from the room if found violating this rule. Repeat offenders will have their meeting badges revoked and not be allowed to continue attending the meeting. Registered media, when accompanied by an ASH media relations staff member, are allowed to videotape in public areas of the convention center. Media must receive prior approval and arrange for an escort by visiting the on-site Press Room.

No Audio Recording
Audio recording is strictly prohibited in the poster sessions and in the session rooms, unless one has the presenter’s express written permission. Registered members of the media are exempt from this rule. Absolutely no recording of any kind by anyone is ever permissible in the exhibit hall. Violators will be escorted out and barred from returning. Repeat offenders will have their meeting badges revoked and not be allowed to continue attending the meeting.

Participation of Financial Professionals
The mission of ASH is to further the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the blood, bone marrow, and the immunologic, hemostatic, and vascular systems, by promoting research, clinical care, education, training, and advocacy in hematology. In accordance with this mission, the primary purpose of scientific meetings organized by ASH, including the Society’s annual meeting, is to facilitate the exchange of scientific information and clinical results related to the field of hematology. Another important goal of ASH-organized meetings is to assist physicians and scientists in developing and maintaining academic collaborations that will generate new knowledge, ultimately benefiting patients.

The ASH annual meeting is a public forum; therefore, financial professionals and other individuals whose principal reason for attending the annual meeting is to seek business opportunities or obtain information affecting investment positions are welcome to register. However, the educational and scientific aspects of the annual meeting are always top priority. It is important that financial professionals identify themselves when speaking with presenters, particularly when asking questions where the answers may have implications for corporate valuation or positions in equity markets. Financial professionals are also asked to give preference to questioners with scientific or clinical inquiries.

Prohibited Session Room Behavior
In crowded sessions, please honor the instructions provided by ASH staff. You may be told not to stand against the walls in these rooms or not to block the aisles. As ASH must obey the guidelines established by the Fire Marshall in San Francisco, please note that if the room reaches full capacity, you may be denied entry.

No Smoking
Smoking will not be permitted in any of the hallways, lobbies, meeting rooms, exhibits, or poster sessions at the convention center. Please refrain from smoking unless you are outside the building.

Children Under 12
For safety reasons, children under the age of 12 (including infants in carriers and strollers, or hand-carried infants and toddlers) are not permitted in the exhibit hall and poster sessions. Additionally, ASH prohibits children and infants in the sessions, as they may distract the speakers and disrupt other attendees. Child-care services are provided at the meeting.
