Friday Satellite Symposia

The Friday Satellite Symposia (FSS), formerly Corporate Friday, are industry-sponsored, CME-certified symposia that are offered the day preceding the ASH annual meeting. The FSS offers a great opportunity to host a unique and balanced educational session for the thousands of practitioners that have come to rely on these symposia to gather the most up-to-date information that can be translated into their patient care. This year’s Friday Satellite Symposia will take place on Friday, December 8, 2006.

Friday Satellite Symposia are not part of ASH’s official annual meeting program and are planned solely by the sponsoring company. Sponsorship amounts for a 2006 Friday Satellite symposium vary between $20,000 and $50,000, depending on attendance.

All Friday Satellite Symposia are required to follow the ASH Guidelines for Friday Satellite Symposia, developed in accordance with the policies established by the ASH Executive Committee. Violation of these guidelines may result in ASH cancelling the symposium, preventing participation in future Friday Satellite Symposia, and/or deducting priority points from the supporting company’s priority point total.

The FSS is a highly competitive program with a high quality review of each application received. Applications are scored and ranked based on the scientific merit, interest in the topic, and uniqueness of the symposium. Each year, the Friday Satellite Symposium application is made available in mid-February. This year’s deadline for submitting an application was March 29, 2006. Under no circumstances are corporate symposia permitted by ASH other than those approved.

Signage/Door Drops

New This Year!

Friday Satellite Symposia participants will have the opportunity to have door drops (placing promotional material at the doors of hotel guests) to promote their symposia. Participants must first have prior approval from ASH of the promotional piece. As an added benefit, FSS participants that are also exhibiting will be able to include a promotional piece (also pre-approved by ASH) promoting their booth space. ASH will arrange the delivery of the piece to be placed outside of guest rooms on Thursday night and mid Friday morning preceding the annual meeting.

The fee for FSS door drops is $5,000. This fee is separate from educational grants provided for Friday Satellite Symposia. Companies will be not permitted to post promotional signs or literature in hotel or convention center lobbies. Sandwich boards and/or persons handing out promotional materials are prohibited. Standing in the public areas of the convention center or hotel lobby and hallway to promote your symposium is strictly prohibited.

• One sign (no size limit) is permitted outside of symposium room.
• One directional sign (size 22” x 28”) is permitted in the assigned property.
• Companies found violating these guidelines risk penalties from ASH. Management companies handling logistics are responsible for following these guidelines as well.

Ads will run in all 16 elevators during the ASH annual meeting.

Lead Retrieval System

Attendee badge-reader boxes can be rented to utilize the lead retrieval system that allows a symposia sponsor to record the names, mailing addresses, and demographic information for those who attend the symposia. To do so, please complete the lead retrieval order form.

Attendee Mailing Labels

ASH is offering an exclusive marketing opportunity for Friday Satellite Symposia organizers to reach attendees of the 2006 ASH Annual Meeting by ordering ASH mailing labels. Friday Satellite supporters can request to receive a complimentary copy of the final attendee list for the 2005 meeting, or purchase the 2006 advance registration list or ASH membership list. The mailing list is for one-time use only for the promotion of the Friday Satellite Symposium.
