Trainee Welcome Reception and Meeting Overview

Friday, December 8, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

This informal social event provides an excellent opportunity for medical students, residents, and fellows to gather with their colleagues. During the reception, there will be a brief presentation by members of the ASH Executive Committee, Committee on Training Programs, and Trainee Council. ASH’s leadership will provide an overview of the meeting’s training events and sessions, highlighting the various topics and speakers. Additionally, there will be a brief review of the education and scientific programs, with an emphasis on those sessions most relevant to trainees. All trainees are encouraged to attend!

Please note that this event is open only to ASH Associate members and non-members in training wearing trainee meeting badges.

ASH New Member Reception

Friday, December 8, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

ASH would like to extend a warm welcome to its newest members and invites them to enjoy an evening of networking and fun. During this reception light refreshments will be served and Drs. Kenneth Kaushansky and Mohandas Narla will present an overview of ASH member benefits, give tips on navigating the annual meeting, and describe ways to become involved in the Society. Additional members of the Executive Committee will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have about ASH. All new ASH members are encouraged to join us on Friday, December 8, from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. in Room 312-BC on level three of the Orange County Convention Center West Building for this reception.

Welcome Reception

Saturday, December 9, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

All meeting attendees are invited to attend this kick-off event. Enjoy a relaxing evening with your friends and colleagues and meet this year’s exhibitors. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. This event will take place in the exhibit and poster halls (Halls C, D, and E1) of the West Building of the Orange County Convention Center.

Poster Hall Receptions

Sunday, December 10, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, December 11, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Abstracts selected for poster presentations feature cutting-edge research and are considered among the best of the thousands submitted for the 2006 ASH Annual Meeting. ASH invites meeting attendees to take these special opportunities to meet the abstract authors to discuss their research and ask them questions. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

All-ASH Reception

Monday, December 11, 9:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

We invite all meeting attendees to join us at the All-ASH Reception. Back by popular demand is the New Orleans band Jubilation that played at last year’s reception. Desserts and coffee will be served and a cash bar will also be available.

Ticket Prices

Tickets for the event are $20 per person, which includes two complimentary drinks. You may purchase tickets on the meeting registration form, during online registration, or on site. Please note that tickets purchased in advance will not be mailed and you will need to pick them up on site at the ticket counter in the registration area of the West Building of the Orange County Convention Center. Cancellations must be submitted to the ASH Registration Center in writing by November 20 to receive a refund. There will be no refunds given for tickets purchased on site.

Fundraiser

ASH is currently in the early stages of an effort to raise $6 million to endow the Clinical Research Training Institute in time to celebrate ASH’s 50th anniversary in 2008. To assist in this effort, $5 of the $20 ticket price for the All-ASH Reception will be a restricted tax-deductible donation to the Clinical Research Training Institute Endowment Fund. Come show your support for ASH and put on your dancing shoes!
