Nancy and Ron Reagan Presented Award for Their Support of Stem Cell Research
On December 5, 2004, ASH honored Nancy and Ron Reagan with Outstanding Service Awards for their pioneering support of human embryonic stem cell research.
A special taped acceptance speech by Mr. Reagan addressing the ASH membership was showcased at the 46th annual meeting. A short video introducing the issue and highlighting the Reagans' contributions, as well as ASH's efforts, on behalf of human embryonic stem cell research was also shown.

ASH Honors Sen. Jim Talent with Public Service Award
Sen. Jim Talent, R-Mo., was presented with the 2004 ASH Public Service Award for his congressional leadership on the Sickle Cell Treatment Act, legislation that provides access to essential treatments and quality health care for patients suffering from sickle cell disease. A brief video presented to attendees at the 46th annual meeting highlighted the key role Sen. Talent played in securing passage of this legislation.
