The ASH leadership and staff wish to express their concern and deepest sympathy for those ASH members, as well as their families and colleagues, who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Communication with the Gulf Coast region continues to be difficult. Many e-mail servers are not functioning, and the U.S. Postal Service is not accepting many types of mail addressed for delivery to certain ZIP codes.
In an effort to keep in touch with our members and to confirm their personal safety, ASH is requesting that those individuals from the affected areas contact us with an e-mail or postal address where they may be reached, specifying whether it is expected to be temporary or permanent. Please e-mail the Membership Department (membership@hematology.org) to let us know how we may contact you in the coming weeks, should you wish to continue to receive Blood, The Hematologist, and other Society communications.
We also encourage members from affected areas to learn more about the ASH Katrina Relief Program, which provides needed assistance to enable hematologists to continue to treat patients, conduct research, and further their education in the field of hematology while rebuilding their lives and careers.
