ASH International Outreach Initiative
Since 1999, ASH has distributed educational materials to institutions and cooperative
groups in developing countries through its International
Outreach Initiative (IOI). The goal of the IOI is to help address the hematology-related
needs in research, practice, and training in these areas of the world. The ASH
International Members Committee oversees the IOI.
Educational materials that are distributed through the IOI include:
- An online subscription to Blood,
the Journal of the American Society of Hematology, published 24 times per
year;
- A CD-ROM containing a searchable database of the most recent ASH abstracts;
- A copy of Hematology,
the ASH Education Program Book, which includes manuscripts written by each
education program speaker from the most recent annual meeting;
- A CD-ROM that features the audio-visual presentation of the education program
and special lectures from the most recent annual meeting;
- An online copy of the ASH Self-Assessment Program (ASH-SAP), a hematology reference with self-test questions and critiques (print edition available by special request).
Note that travel grants formerly administered through this program are no longer
available.
