International Resources

ASH is an international society, representing hematologists from more than 90 countries. Through ASH’s International Members Committee, these members have a voice within ASH. This committee works to enhance ASH’s leadership worldwide among hematologists and hematology-related professionals, and provide outreach to developing countries, extending ASH’s unique expertise in the basic and clinical aspects of hematology.

The information below is provided for those who have an interest in programs, services, and news with an international focus.

ASH is gathering information about the state of hematology worldwide. If you are from a developing country, please help us by completing a survey on the global state of hematology. Your feedback is extremely important to us.

International Programs

Health Volunteers Overseas Hematology Program
ASH has partnered with Health Volunteers Overseas to create a program to recruit and support hematologist volunteers who will travel to developing countries to educate and train health-care providers on the treatment of patients with blood disorders.

International Outreach Initiative
Since 1999, ASH has distributed educational materials to institutions and cooperative groups in developing countries through its International Outreach Initiative.

Visiting Trainee Program
Through this program, ASH provides learning opportunities and training at host institutions for hematologists from emerging nations.

EHA-ASH International Fellowship Award
Through a partnership between ASH and the european Hematology Association, this award supports hematologists in training or early in their careers from North America and Europe in a work-abroad program.

Traveling to the ASH Annual Meeting

ASH encourages you to start your visa application process as early as possible at least three to four months to attent the ASH annual meeting. Because of new U.S. State Department regulations, U.S. embassies and consulates may require a face-to-face visa interview for most non-immigrant visa applications. To schedule an interview for the visa application process, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. For more information, please visit www.state.gov/travelandbusiness.

To receive an invitation letter from ASH, please e-mail your complete name and mailing address to meetings@hematology.org.
