Editorial Assistant - New Manuscripts

ASH seeks an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative support with the new manuscripts process in the Publications Department. Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of online manuscript submission, including evaluating whether manuscripts meet established guidelines and policies and maintaining the updated manuscript tracking system, as well as filing manuscript information appropriately, and providing support to authors.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in English, science, or a related field; one to two years of editorial experience, preferably with online manuscript peer-review systems; a high level of computer literacy; excellent communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work constructively with editors, medical researchers, authors, and reviewers in order to meet deadlines. Experience with Photoshop is a plus.

Member Services Coordinator

ASH seeks a motivated, detailed, customer service-oriented Member Services Coordinator to work in a fast-paced environment where service is a top priority. The Member Services Coordinator will work directly with the Society’s membership to ensure expectations are fully met or exceeded through effective communication, timely order processing, and prompt resolution of issues. The Member Services Coordinator is the first point of contact for inbound customer service calls, voicemail messages, and e-mails. Specific responsibilities include coordinating membership feedback to appropriate points of contact throughout the organization with the goal of enhancing operations, processing information, and analyzing data. The Member Services Coordinator is expected to be responsive and exercise professional judgment while demonstrating a positive and professional attitude. High priority is placed on the quality of service and determination to work effectively within a team environment to accomplish goals.

A bachelor’s degree, highly effective customer-service orientation, interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, and excellent judgment and problem solving skills are required. Experience in a call center environment or membership organization is a plus.

Staff Accountant

ASH seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage responsibilities related to weekly check processing, daily batch creation for deposits, and bank account reconciliations. This position also serves as a liaison to internal departments, vendors, bank contacts, and other financial representatives, and handles other duties as assigned.

A bachelor's degree in accounting and at least two years in a related position are required. Nonprofit experience, including familiarity with an association management system (i.e., TIMMS, IMIS), is preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles is essential. The ideal candidate will be customer-service orientated, and possess interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, and excellent judgment and problem solving skills.

Meetings

Meetings Assistant

ASH seeks a Meetings Assistant to provide administrative support to the Director of Meetings and the Meetings Department. Key responsibilities include filing; database management; coordinating in-house meetings with the Meetings Coordinator, including ordering food and beverage, making hotel reservations, reserving meeting rooms, and setting up audio and visual equipment as needed; providing information to constituents via mailings, telephone, and e-mail; responding to logistical questions regarding the annual meeting; and assisting with the production and compilation of materials related to the annual meeting.

The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree (or equivalent experience), one year of meeting planning experience, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, experience using a database, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
