Hematology Course Directors: Attend Tomorrow’s Workshop on Increasing Medical Student Interest in Hematology

Each year, ASH provides an opportunity for the second-year medical school hematology course directors to meet. This year’s program includes a breakfast and is held on Sunday, December 5, from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. The Workshop provides a forum for discussion of common concerns shared by course directors.

The workshop features three didactic sessions covering a range of topics of interest to the course directors. This year, Dr. Scott Gitlin of the University of Michigan will talk about how course directors can increase medical student interest in hematology, Dr. Jennifer Kesselheim of Children’s Hospital Boston will discuss adult learning theory and how it relates to teaching second-year hematology, and Drs. Marc Zumberg from the University of Florida and Elizabeth Bengtson from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center will discuss the results of a second, more in-depth course director survey, focusing specifically on current content, support, workforce, and organization of hematology courses.

All hematology course directors are welcome to attend. The breakfast meeting will take place in Rosen Centre Salon 3.
