CME & Maintenance of Certification

Loading...

In order to maintain board certification, physicians must earn continuing medical education credits (CME). In January 2006, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) modified its requirements for physicians seeking recertification. In addition to passing a secure exam and verifying credentials, all physicians also need to secure 100 lifelong learning points (20 knowledge points, 20 practice improvement points, and 60 elective points) to maintain their certification. ASH is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME for physicians and offers several opportunities to to earn both CME credits and lifelong learning points.
