The House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Health Care, District of Columbia, Census, and the National Archives held a hearing entitled, "Drug Shortage Crisis: Lives Are In The Balance" on Wednesday, November 30. Additional information about the hearing, including witness testimony and an archived webcast, is available online on the Committee's website.
ASH was the first organization to urge congressional hearings on the causes of the problem of drug shortages.
This was the second congressional hearing examining the drug shortage crisis. In September, the House Energy & Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health and the Environment held a hearing on "Examining the Increase in Drug Shortages," at which ASH submitted a statement to the Committee. The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee has scheduled an additional hearing on the issue for mid-December.
