Practice-Related Events at the 2012 ASH Annual Meeting

This year's ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition in Atlanta, GA (December 8-11) includes a number of events designed for practitioners that you should plan to attend:

Special Symposium: Quality Improvement – A Toolkit for Hematology Practice
Saturday, December 8, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Georgia World Congress Center (A103)

The Symposium will focus on the development and successful implementation of quality improvement efforts, including how to develop a multidisciplinary quality improvement team and how to identify appropriate goals. The Symposium will also share examples of programs in two clinical areas relevant to hematology: increasing retrieval of temporary vena caval filters and increasing appropriate use of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in hospitalized patients.

Practice Forum Hematology in Cyberspace: Benefiting from New Technologies and Social Networking
Saturday, December 8, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., International Ballroom D, Omni Hotel at CNN Center

The Practice Forum will provide the ASH practice community with a greater understanding of existing and emerging technologies that help improve patient care and practice efficiency as well as provide opportunities for additional education and collaboration. The session will feature several examples from ASH members who have successfully implemented new technologies in their practices. The program will also provide an overview on federal efforts to encourage the adoption of electronic medical records and move toward additional technology-related programs.

Following the Forum, please join your colleagues at a special networking reception from 7:30-8:30 p.m. where you can talk directly with members of the ASH Committee on Practice to learn more about the Society's practice-related initiatives.

ASH Practice Partnership Lunch (RSVP Required)
Sunday, December 9, 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., International Ballroom A, Omni Hotel at CNN Center
