CMS Provides PQRI 2008 Incentive Payment Adjustments

The 2008 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) program entitled eligible providers who satisfactorily reported PQRI measures an incentive payment of 1.5 percent of estimated total Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) charges. Some participants in the 2008 program noted discrepancies between the estimated PFS allowed charges as reported in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) feedback reports and the participant's data. As a result, CMS has been reviewing the data for specific providers upon request and has been providing increased incentive payments where appropriate.

CMS continues to review inquiries made regarding the 2008 PQRI payment. CMS also plans to publish a 2008 experience report, which will detail the program results for 2008 including results of the inquiry process.

Additional information about the 2008 PQRI is available on the CMS website. To send questions to CMS, please contact the QualityNet Help Desk at 1-866-288-8912 from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, or via qnetsupport@sdps.org.

Please refer to the ASH website for information on the hematology measures for PQRI.
