NHLBI Request for Information: Identification of Clinical Research Sites With Interest in Multi-Center Clinical Studies in Hemoglobinopathies (NOT-HL-09-113)

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) released a request for information (RFI) seeking investigators and institutions to participate in collaborative clinical research studies in hemoglobinopathies. Identification and characterization of sites with access to appropriate populations and potential infrastructure will facilitate the NHLBI’s development of a multi-center clinical study platform for future clinical research activities. The RFI response period ends March 7, 2009.

The RFI is part of NHLBI’s broader plan to restructure its sickle cell disease portfolio as well as examine how it will address the goals defined in the Institute’s overall Strategic Plan across its broad research portfolio. ASH is pleased to see the RFI is consistent with the Society’s recommendations submitted to NHLBI last year regarding the top scientific and clinical priorities in sickle cell disease.
