The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 authorized funds
to help finance and incentivize the adoption of health IT (HIT) in
medical practices across the country. The Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Service (CMS) have created a Web site
that outlines the manner in which those funds are being disbursed and
talks about the Department’s strategy for encouraging HIT adoption.
On the site now are:
- A fact sheet and Q & A about the incentive programs;
- Link to press release pertaining to the process of defining meaningful use;
- Resources on health IT and privacy and security (HIPAA).
CMS intends to update this page with more information as it becomes
available. ASH will keep members informed of any updates on the issue
of health IT.
