As expected, President Bush vetoed the Senate version of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (S. 5). The Senate is expected to attempt to override the President’s veto; however, it remains unclear whether or not the bill has the two-thirds majority support necessary to overrule it.

With such a close margin in the Senate, continued grassroots advocacy in support of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act will be critical.
