Accessing Your ASH Fundamentals for Hematology Fellows Benefits

Any hematology-related fellowship program may participate in the ASH Fundamentals for Hematology Fellows (FHF) program by enrolling 100 percent of its fellows. To find out if your training program participates in FHF, please contact training@hematology.org.

Access to FHF benefits begins July 1 and ends on June 30 of the following year. Fellows completing the training program in June will receive FHF benefits through December of their graduating year.

Each fellow enrolled in FHF receives:

  • ASH Associate membership
  • One complimentary ASH meeting registration1 (or access to recorded sessions for one ASH meeting) per academic year
  • Online access to the ASH Self-Assessment Program (ASH-SAP)

1Complimentary registrations are non-transferable and include the core meeting registration only. Eligible meetings include the ASH annual meeting, ASH Meeting on Hematologic Malignancies, and Highlights of ASH in North America.

How to Access Your Benefits

ASH Associate Membership

Information about your Associate member benefits will be sent to you via email once your FHF enrollment becomes active (typically July 1 or when payment is received, if after July 1).

  • Complimentary publications, including Blood, The Hematologist, and Hematology, the ASH Education Program, will be sent to you automatically. Please be sure to verify your mailing address on file to make sure you receive any print publications that are part of your membership. This is especially important if you were an ASH Resident member and moved recently for your fellowship. Only you can update this information; it was not updated by your fellowship program when you were enrolled in FHF.
  • To take advantage of member-only services, such as Consult a Colleague, please include your ASH member ID number in the appropriate field when submitting the online Consult-a-Colleague request.
  • To apply for ASH awards, including the Clinical Research Training Institute and Research Training Award for Fellows, please include your ASH member ID number where indicated on the award application.

Complimentary Meeting Registration

To register for an ASH meeting using this benefit, please make sure you are logged in to the ASH website when you attempt to register. Once you are logged in, the website will automatically recognize that you are enrolled in the FHF program and ask whether or not you want to use your free meeting registration.

ASH Self-Assessment Program

For online access to the ASH-SAP, 6th Edition, please sign in to the ASH Self-Assessment Program website using your ASH username and password.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I am enrolled in FHF, do I still need to apply for ASH Associate membership?

Fellows enrolled in FHF do not need to apply for ASH Associate membership, as ASH membership is a benefit of the FHF program.

What if I was already an ASH member before my program enrolled me in FHF?

If you are already an ASH member outside of the FHF program, a refund for the six-month balance of your previously-paid membership dues will be issued and sent to the original payer.

I am unable to log in to hematology.org or ASH Academy.

Your web credentials may need to be updated, especially if you are a new fellow with no prior interaction with ASH. Please contact the ASH Training Department (training@hematology.org, 202-552-4933) or ASH Customer Service (customerservice@hematology.org, 866-828-1231) to create or update your log-in credentials.

Do I need separate log-in credentials for hematology.org and ASH Academy?

No, all of our websites work under single sign on, so if you are logged in to the ASH Self-Assessment Program site or hematology.org, you will already be logged in to the ASH Academy website.

My membership is not showing up in my profile on hematology.org.

This may be because the FHF enrollment order has not been paid yet. Benefits and membership do not become available until the full registration. ASH does not accept individual payments. To check your payment status, please contact your training program coordinator or ASH Customer Service at 866-828-1231 or customerservice@hematology.org.

Another reason your membership may not show up is if you have two ASH accounts and the membership is assigned to the one you are not logged in to. For assistance, please contact training@hematology.org.

Do I get a physical copy of the ASH-SAP?

No, enrolled fellows get online-only access to the ASH-SAP, 6th Edition. The physical textbook may be purchased through the ASH-SAP website for the Associate member price of $360.

How do I access the digital version of the ASH-SAP?

You will need to log in to the ASH SAP website to access the online version of the ASH-SAP textbook. After logging in, click “Chapters” at the top of the page and then click “Sixth Edition.” You should then see a listing of the chapters available to read online or download to PDF. If you need assistance with your login information, contact customerservice@hematology.org.

Do I get the Q&A book that typically comes with the print edition of the ASH-SAP?

Instead of a physical book, you will get access to online modules containing all questions in the Q&A book. To access the modules, please log in to ASH Academy. After logging in, you should see a list on your Dashboard of your CME/MOC offerings. Next to the modules entitled ASH-SAP, 6th Edition (SAP6_DIGITAL), click “Go to Module.” You will then be able to take the tests associated with each chapter. The chapters are grouped by like topic.

How do I use the complimentary meeting or recorded meeting registration?

On the respective registration site for the meeting or recorded meeting, there should be a drop-down selection menu with "FHF comp” as an option. Once applied, the price should adjust. Please contact ASH Customer Service at customerservice@hematology.org with any issues.
