The Hematology ASH Education Program provides review articles from the Education Program at the ASH Annual Meeting. Each chapter relates to a different session presented at the meeting, spanning the spectrum from basic discovery and disease pathogenesis to the clinical application at the bedside.

ASH Self-Assessment Program

The ASH Self-Assessment Program is designed to provide challenging, informative multiple-choice questions for hematologists studying for professional certification or recertification exams. Successful completion of this activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s MOC program. Participants earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.

North American Undergraduate Student Benefit

The North American Undergraduate Student Benefit is a non-member benefit program open to undergraduate students in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who are interested in hematology, but not yet eligible for membership in ASH.

International Postdoctoral Fellows Program

ASH offers the International Postdoctoral Fellows program as part of its continuous effort to provide valuable opportunities to international hematologists. This program allows postdoctoral fellows to access valuable ASH resources at no charge for up to four years.

GENOM

The GENOM program offers interactive online learning modules for CME credit designed to help clinicians identify genomic principles, applications, technologies, and terminology relating to biomarker development.

Clinical Articles from Blood

With an impact factor of 17.794 (2019), Blood is the most cited peer-reviewed publication in the field of hematology. It provides an international forum for the publication of original articles describing basic laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations in hematology.

Medical Student and Early-Career Investigator Awards

Award programs offered by ASH to help launch and grow careers in hematology through early research experience

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers multiple funding and training opportunities for hematology fellows, junior faculty, and senior research faculty at various career stages. Apply for one of the following career-enhancement awards or training programs to get the research funding, training, or guidance needed to move your hematology career forward.

ASH Clinical Research Training Institute

This yearlong education and mentoring program for hematology fellows and junior faculty at academic medical centers offers education on clinical research methods, research collaborations, statistical analysis, and managing the demands of family and career.

ASH Clinical Research Training Institute in Latin America

This workshop is intended for fellows and early- to mid-career hematology faculty working in Latin American countries who are engaged in clinical research and training and who wish to become more familiar with clinical trial design and execution.

ASH Research Training Award for Fellows

Open to both MD and MD-PhD researchers between their second and fifth year of fellowship, this award is designed to encourage junior researchers to pursue a career in academic hematology.

ASH-EHA Translational Research Training in Hematology

This training and mentoring program, which kicks off with a week-long course in Europe, helps junior researchers build successful careers in hematologic translational research.

ASH Latin American Training Program

This program helps build hematology capacity in Latin America by providing funding for hematologists or hematology-related health care professionals to receive 12 weeks of training on a specific priority area for the region.

ASH Medical Educators Institute

This yearlong program, which includes a webinar series and in-person workshop, develops future leaders in hematology education by providing a "boot camp" in teaching techniques, medical education scholarship, and career development.

ASH Scholar Award

This award provides fellows and junior faculty with partial salary or other research support during that critical period required for completion of training and achievement of status as an independent investigator.

ASH Visitor Training Program

This provides funding for hematologists or hematology-related health care professionals in the developing world to receive up to 12 weeks of training on a specific topic or technique in the clinic or laboratory of an ASH member.

Health Volunteers Overseas

Together with Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving global health through education, ASH brings invaluable consultation and training to hospitals in low-and middle-income countries. The objective of the program is to develop sustainable improvement in the management of hematology patients at these institutions and to, ultimately, enhance patient care.

Each program site has an ASH member program director and on-site coordinators who oversee volunteer visits at the institutions and provide feedback on the institutions' evolving needs and goals. ASH and HVO consultants also work with on-site hematologists, laboratory scientists, blood bankers, faculty, administrators, and others to formulate mid- and long-term goals for each site and to create profiles for volunteer hematologists who can help fulfill these needs.

Consortium on Newborn Screening in Africa

CONSA is a network that seeks to demonstrate the benefits of newborn screening and early interventions for children with SCD in sub-Saharan Africa.
