Award Terms

All participating trainees are required to submit a final summary of their work at the end of their research. The final summary is due within one month (30 days) of the stated completion date.

Receipt of a Trainee Research Award does not include or require an ASH Annual Meeting abstract submission.

If selected for an award, the trainee agrees to cite support from the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in any publication or poster describing research conducted during the award period.

Research awards are paid directly to the participating institution of the mentor, not to the mentor or the trainee. Research awards are intended to defer the cost of the trainee’s contributions to the research project. Funds can be used to provide the trainee a stipend for the purposes of conducting the research. Indirect costs are not allowed for any ASH Trainee Research Award.

ASH offers travel awards to recipient of the Trainee Research Award to attend the ASH Annual Meeting. Travel awards will only be issued to those attending the ASH Annual Meeting and are intended to reimburse the recipient for costs associated with attending the ASH Annual Meeting (i.e., flight, hotel, and meeting registration). Award recipients are responsible for making arrangements for travel, hotel, and annual meeting registration. Travel awards will be made payable to the trainee and checks must be picked up on site at the annual meeting. Checks that are not picked up on site at the annual meeting will not be mailed to trainees. Travel costs over and above the $1,000 may be reimbursed from the research support award, at the discretion of the mentor.

Please Note: This award cannot be deferred and is non-transferable.
