As the world's largest professional society of hematologists, ASH is dedicated to support hematologists in all career stages. Through more than twenty ASH awards, medical students, residents, and hematologists in all sub-specialty areas can find opportunities to: Receive mentorship and funding, complete a research project, gain recognition from peers, and ultimately advance their careers in the dynamic field of hematology. ASH Awards also honor those who have helped advance the field of hematology in significant ways.

Medical Student, Resident, Graduate Student Awards 
The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers both short- and long-term opportunities for aspiring hematologists in medical school or residency to conduct hematology research under the supervision and mentorship of ASH member mentors. Early-Career Investigator Awards and Training Programs
The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers multiple funding and training opportunities for hematology fellows, junior faculty, and senior research faculty at various career stages. Apply for one of our career-enhancement awards or training programs to get the research funding, training, or guidance needed to move your hematology career forward.

ASH Abstract Achievement Awards and Outstanding Abstract Achievement Awards
Each year, the American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers a variety of merit-based awards to support select trainees with high-achieving annual meeting abstracts who are chosen to present their work at the ASH annual meeting. 

ASH Honorific Awards
ASH's most prestigious awards, the Honorific Awards recognize hematologists who have made significant contributions to the field of hematology. 

ASH Minority Recruitment Initiative

The ASH Minority Recruitment Initiative (MRI) was created in 2003 to increase the participation of underrepresented minorities training in hematology-related fields and to increase the number of minority hematologists with academic and research appointments.


The Minority Graduate Student Abstract Achievement Award (MGSAAA) is designed to attract and/or retain minority PhD students to the field of hematology through the ASH annual meeting.

The Minority Hematology Graduate Award (MHGA) provides support and offers exposure to academic hematology for doctoral students in their first, second, or third year of graduate school.

The Minority Medical Student Award Program (MMSAP) is designed to offer an introductory mentored biomedical research experience to students in medical school.

The Minority Resident Hematology Award Program (MRHAP) provides support for minority resident physicians in an internal medicine, pathology, or pediatric residency program to conduct hematology focused research.

The Minority Hematology Fellow Award (MHFA) encourages junior researchers to pursue careers in academic hematology by providing research funding and mentorship over a two-to-three year period.

The Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (ASH-AMFDP) seeks to increase the number of underrepresented minority scholars from the field of hematology with academic and research appointments.
