Each year, the American Society of Hematology offers merit-based awards in the amount of $500 to trainees with high-scoring annual meeting abstracts. Abstract Achievement Awards (formerly Travel Awards) are intended for those trainees who are chosen to present an abstract, of which they are the first author and presenter, at the ASH annual meeting. Outstanding Abstract Achievement Awards (formerly Merit Awards) are provided to abstract presenters with the highest scoring abstracts of which they are the first author in each of the following categories: undergraduate student, medical student, graduate student, resident physician, and post-doctoral fellow (MD or PhD). In addition to the $500 honorarium, Outstanding Abstract Achievement Award winners receive annual meeting travel reimbursement (coach airfare and two nights’ hotel accommodations).

Application Process
Award applicants may review the rules for abstract submission. Other rules for eligibility are included in the online abstract submission program. Applicants must check the appropriate box in the online abstract submission program in the area marked "Abstract Achievement/Outstanding Abstract Achievement Award Applicants." All applicants must also include with their abstract submission a letter from their Training Program Director confirming status as a trainee.
Deadline
The deadline to apply for the ASH Abstract Achievement and Outstanding Abstract Achievement Awards, which is the same deadline as the abstract submission deadline, has now passed.
Notification
Abstract Achievement Award and Outstanding Abstract Achievement Award applicants will be notified as to whether or not they will receive an award by late October. A list of winners will also be posted to the ASH website at that time. Individuals who have not received notification by November 1, may contact ASH headquarters for information regarding their award status.
