Publications Coordinator
The American Society of Hematology, a Washington, DC-based association of physicians and scientists committed to promoting blood disease research and education, seeks a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented Publications Coordinator to work in the Publishing department. The Publications Coordinator provides principal support to the Senior Director of Publications; provides significant committee support by assisting with the material produced for both the Journals Committee meetings and meetings with the Editor-in-Chief of Blood and by attending these key meetings to keep minutes of the proceedings; and supports Publishing Department staff in administrative phases of producing the Blood journal and other products produced by the department.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately):
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of two years administrative experience in a business setting, ideally supporting multiple individuals in a deadline driven-environment.
- Non-profit association background preferred.
- Detail- and customer service-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Strong oral written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, and the Internet.

Senior Manager of Education
ASH, a Washington, DC-based association of physicians and scientists committed to promoting blood disease research and education,seeks a Senior Manager of Education to serve as a key internal resource for ongoing evaluation and improvement of ASH’s non-physician-driven education content and provide staff support and strategic direction to the committees that oversee the development, monitoring, and delivery of the education programs, including the Committee on Educational Affairs, Program Committee, Small Meetings Oversight Subcommittee, and the CME Accreditation Subcommittee. The Senior Manager of Education manages the planning, development, implementation, and documentation of processes to ensure that ASH’s CME programs comply with the current criteria of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and European Hematology Association (EHA). This position also oversees development and administration of the ASH Annual Meeting Education Program and manages daily operations of the Education Department’s CME programs.
This role requires a college degree and a minimum of seven years of experience managing an education-related function, preferably within an association or medical society. Candidates with a master’s degree in adult education or a related field are strongly preferred. Applicants must have prior experience managing CME accreditation processes and supervising colleagues, strong detail orientation, excellent organizational skills with a commitment to follow-through, and strong project management and oral and written communication skills. In addition, knowledge of learning principles, including needs assessment and evaluation, is critical. Periodic travel is required in this role.
